Nara Experience

So beautiful...so quite...so natural
I've never imagined that I can see Deers (Real ones) walking among people in the city
until my last visit to Nara to the south of Kyoto...
I went with our tooter friend and My friends from Holland and Kenya...

We went to see the light up in the city...but we had the chance to visit some other places since we arrived early...
so took a walk to Tōdai-ji the temple which is the largest wooden building in the world.

and after that we clumped a mountain next to the temple to arrive there by the sunset time over Nara city.
I did the Asr and Maghreb prayers on the top of the mountain...new experience...
And OHHHH!!! it was awesome ^_^
then we headed back to see the light up...
so Romantic....

Gion Matusri 祇園祭

Yeah!!!
It's the most famous festival in Japan...
from all around the world people came to watch it.
In 869 the people were suffering from plague so the emperor ordered the people to pray to the god. Sixty-six stylized and decorated halberds, one for each province in old Japan were prepared and erected at Shinsen-en, a garden, along with the portable shrines.
Any way...the gion matrsuri is held each year in Kyoto...
three days before the parade of the Floats, Kyoto's downtown area is reserved for pedestrian traffic
The streets are lined with night stalls selling Japanese food, Many girls dressed in Yukata (summer Kimono) walk around the area.People inside the floats playing music and others... Ok there are some pics...

On the 17th of Jul is the biggest event...
thousand of people line up in Kyoto streets to watch the great parade of Floats...
the floats are too heavy (Weight: about 12,000 kg) and high (about 25 m from ground to tip)
Wheel diameter about 1.9 m and about 30-40 man pulling during procession.
yeah they pull it around the city! Only by man power!!!

And of course thank god that I'm tall or else I would not be able to take this photos. hehehe

and in the evening on the way back to my home...the train was like this...

Hotaru Matsuri (Fireflies Festival)

Of course you know the word Hotaru which mean firefly in japanese...
In many anime and japanese movies you should have seen it...
its a small insect that emits beautiful green light from a special organ in its tail...
well...
Yesterday I heard from my friends that there is fireflies festival just next to our dorm....
And because I've never seen a real Hotaru in my life...(come on! we don't have them in Jordan)
It was a great chance...
The place was Ohbaku temple
It was already dark when we reach the temple (I think you know why....)
and the weather was really fine.....and those small yellow lamps on the floor with the smell of incense all around the place.....WOW that was really Romantic.
And of course the main star of the event (HOTARU)
there was many of them flying around the place
specially around the lake...
they flew slow and the patterns of emitting light....wow that was really beautiful..
and to add to the beauty ...there was a band ...playing some good music...
with some hotaru flying around ...
It was a good night indeed ...
but unfortunately I couldn't take photos...because my mobile camera isn't that good at night
and even if I took some the fireflies will appear like small green dots in black background....
Sorry every on I really wish you could've seen that.
But I hope I describe it in a good way so you can imagine...

Byoudou in (Phoenix Temple)

This is the 10 en coin....
Actually I went to what you can see in the coin face...

The phoenix temple (byoudou in) actually the translation of the Japaneses words is equality temple but the most famous building in the temple is the Phoenix Hall which you can see it in the coin.
This temple was originally built in 998 in the Heian period...and the Phoenix Hall, completed in 1053....Yeah too old!

The temple lays on the side of Uji river, which actually was one of the most important places according to its strategic location .
And near the temple lays the city of Genji tale the oldest Japaneses novel, actually there a statue for Genji that you can see just as soon as you cross Uji river.

Inside the temple the is a museum full of ststues of Budah and two peautiful statues of the phoenix .but unfortunately taking pics inside the museum is forbidden, So this is some pics of the temple from outside and the pic of the phoenix I bought it there....

Fushimi Inari Taisha (KYOTO)

Mysterious place...
The shrine sits at the base of a mountain also named Inari, and includes trails up the mountain to many smaller shrines. All the ways up to the mountain lined with thousands of torii (the red gates) with a lot of kanjis that i couldn't read...

and yes it took me and my friend a lot of time to reach the top of the mountain but it worthed to do,there was a lake on the mountain and of course we could see Kyoto city from the summit

and we found our selves here after we got down...and the only thing we said was
(HAAAA!!! KOKO WA DOKO) but luckily we had a map and campus...
